01 / Project overview

More than
a storefront.

Gutzy Organic is a health-focused consumer brand offering organic fruit-based snacks centered around gut health and everyday wellness.

The website needed to sell products, introduce the brand, educate customers, and help visitors find Gutzy at physical retail locations.

The supplied Figma designs intentionally moved away from the predictable structure of a traditional Shopify storefront. Pages used unusual compositions, overlapping elements, bold visual treatments, and layouts that needed to remain expressive across screen sizes.

Our role was to turn that creative direction into a Shopify implementation that looked right, worked reliably, and could continue evolving after launch.

02 / The challenge

Fidelity
without fragility.

The biggest challenge was balancing design fidelity with maintainability.

The site could not simply be hard-coded to match a set of screenshots. The team needed to update content, introduce products, change campaigns, and expand functionality without rebuilding sections each time.

03 / Development approach

Extend the theme.
Keep the character.

We used the Aurora theme as a technical foundation, then extended it substantially instead of forcing the design into its default structure.

The emphasis was on reusable building blocks rather than one-off layouts. Custom sections received configuration options, while structured metafields and reusable templates handled dynamic product content.

This preserved the character of the original designs while giving the team more control as content changed.

04 / Implementation

Built as
a working system.

Third-party tools were incorporated into the surrounding experience so they felt like part of the website rather than external widgets.

Retail discovery

From product discovery to a nearby store.

We integrated and customized Storepoint.co so the locator aligned with the Gutzy experience instead of appearing as a disconnected third-party tool.

Marketing & content

Connected systems, one brand experience.

Mailchimp workflows, Instagram content, product reviews, contact forms, and retail-location data were adapted to the customized Shopify implementation.

05 / After launch

The website
kept changing.

A website rarely stops changing after launch. We prefer to build for that reality from the beginning.

Expanding the platform

As Gutzy’s needs expanded, the site gained a members-only content experience with gated content, application workflows, approvals, restricted areas, and user-access logic.

Because the original implementation anticipated future change, this functionality could be added without rebuilding the core website or destabilizing existing pages.

Ongoing support

Instead of treating launch as the end of the engagement, we continued supporting the site as new requirements appeared.

06 / What this demonstrates

One project.
Five capabilities.

01

Complex design implementation

Expressive Figma compositions translated into a responsive Shopify experience without falling back to a standard theme layout.

02

Maintainable content architecture

Reusable sections, configuration options, templates, and metafields gave the team more control as content changed.

03

Integration experience

Storepoint, Mailchimp, reviews, social content, and forms were incorporated into one cohesive implementation.

04

Development beyond launch

Member workflows, gated content, and new functionality were added without rebuilding the core website.

05

Long-term technical support

Continued context made later development faster and reduced the risk of regressions elsewhere.
